ARCADE MUSIC // we recorded this song in Los Angeles with Taylor Locke. After our first trip out there to track “Sylvia” and “Caught Up” from Champagne - we knew we wanted revisit that approach. Doing this during COVID was a weird but equally rewarding experience. Where the Champagne sessions were fast and electric, this round was much slower and rooted in connection with an old friend. This is the last one from this round. And it really feels like it gives a sense of closure. The music still sounds good when you turn it down ya know ✌️

FALSE ALARM // this song came about immediately following the sessions. We were still messing around with the lofi hip hop sound and you can definitely hear it here. We had also been covering a dido track w and leaned heavily on that as an influence. It’s rare for us to write a “sweet” song so this always felt like a special outlier.

There is a new HR album out now. It’s a compilation of every track we’ve made since 2019 including four brand new releases and a live recording.

The real story is that this album has been out for a number of weeks but due to upload issues, it’s been taken down, re-uploaded, edited… and so on. You might still see the wrong date on Spotify, but that’s the world we live in. It feels fitting in so many ways - the concept behind this record was to share a chronological look at our work through a particularly interesting time. From the pandemic, up until now, when the means of distributing music seems to have finally swallowed up the act of making music itself.

Through the back and forth with the machine, the one thing that we are completely confident in, is that these songs are distinctly human. From old coast, to new coast, and the west coast in between. We hope you enjoy them and share them with your friends.

Put in some work with the fellas in the studio over the past few days and realized it perfectly lined up with the five year anniversary of our hometown lockdown friendship experiment . Pretty ironic considering we weren’t allowed to be the same room while we made this stuff // a lot of lore got locked away in these tracks and we think it holds up. Go spin it if you haven’t in a while ⚡️
