There is nothing more empowering as a Black woman than to be in a room, surrounded by so many other beautiful and ambitious Black women. Yesterday I had the pleasure of leading a session at conference on “Climbing the Ladder to Financial Equality” on breaking the gender pay gap. Here’s the facts: Black women make only 66€ to the White man’s dollar. Salary negotiation is a must. Here’s a few tips I shared...
✔️Your new salary has nothing to do with your current salary. Research the market and understand the market value of your experience + education for your industry.
✔️Recruiters will be your best friend. Build relationships with them to get insight on salaries.
✔️There’s a difference between Salary and compensation. Understand the full compensation package, and consider negotiating PTO, stock options, flex/remote work schedules, tuition reimbursement and professional development...

The gender wealth gap is still very real and hasn’t changed much in decades. Women still earn .$.80 on the dollar compared to men, and the gap is even wider for Black and Hispanic women. The session is on “Climbing the Ladder to Financial Equality” and I’ll be speaking on:
