Rest in perfect peace, Queen Mother Ruth Sloane.

Today, our city, our creative community, our world, collectively mourns the loss of a giant. Here at Epoch Tribe, we mourn the loss of a pioneer, a visionary, a guide who was so giving with her wisdom, her love,and her experience. She was also LOUD with her support. She showed up to our shows. She sat in the front. She clapped LOUDLY. And she followed up with feedback and support and nudges to remind us to keep going.

She understood that we could not exist without the visions and sacrifices of powerful Black women like her. We sit humbly at her feet. We create because she did. Ruth Sloane warmed the path. She opened the doors. She stood guard.

May your beautiful work bear witness for you. May your legacy be a comfort for Aisha and the rest of your family and community. Until we meet again. Rest, dear Queen. You have earned it. 💙
