Three Cedars Artisans

In the past we have shown you some of the work from our metal artist, Jeff, primarily small desktop copper business card easels and miniature yard tools. Jeff has been putting together some new ideas in the way of large solid copper wall art, dream catchers and sunbursts. Jeff's art is unique in many ways, but especially in the fact that he creates all of his art from copper tubes. Some of his pieces started their life in a crawl space or attic, carrying water to a heat pump or water heater. Jeff uses salvaged tube whenever he can, and begins the painstaking task of hand cutting each tube down the center in order to flatten the copper out into a sheet before beginning each piece. Each individual piece of copper that goes into one of his sculptures, leaves, chains, ropes, dream catcher webs, and the pins used to hold it all together, are handcrafted by him, and start their journey as a copper tube. One of his recent pieces is being featured in our Etsy shop, and would make a fine gift for the art lover in your life. It is a nice size piece of wall art ready to hang, at 27 inches long and almost 12 inches wide. Because it’s solid copper, it will take on a beautiful patina over time, and is suitable for hanging either inside on a wall, or outside in your yard or garden, as it will not rust and needs no maintenance. If you prefer your copper art to remain brilliant and shiny, a small amount of metal polish and a little effort will keep it looking bright for many years to come. We've also been working on a series of homes for the Tree Faeries that have been displaced whenever a sacred tree falls. According to Irish legend, when you find a Faerie Tree, it will have stones around its base to protect those dwelling in it. These trees are also believed to be the gateways between the world of mortals, and that of the Faeries, or Wee Folk. It is said, whomever cuts down a Faerie Tree will face a lifetime of bad luck. Rumor has it the famous car manufacture DeLorean chopped down a Faerie Tree in order to build their factory in Dunmurry, on the outskirts of Belfast. It's believed DeLorean failed due to bad luck from chopping down the tree. We'll be adding these to our Etsy shop as they become available. Some of the homes, or cottages, will be made from the same trees that some of our Tree Spirits came from, and will therefore share a bit of the same Faerie Magic, or luck as the mortal folk refer to it. If anyone would like to pair a Faerie Home with a kindred Tree Spirit of the same tree, we would be happy to make the arrangement, and offer a discounted price for the set.
