In this video, I’m explaining what I’m doing in real time while training:

• High-value food reinforcement to strengthen engagement and position
• Low-level e-collar stimulation used as a tactile cue, not punishment
• Clear communication through operant conditioning — reinforcing desired behavior and reducing reliance on prompts over time

The e-collar is introduced after the behavior is already understood and is used to:

✔ Increase clarity
✔ Improve reliability under distraction
✔ Support calm, focused movement

This is a combination of positive reinforcement (food, praise, movement) and negative reinforcement (removing light pressure once Ruby makes the correct choice), applied thoughtfully and ethically.

We were able to take Ruby into a busy public environment because we spent an entire week beforehand building the foundation:

✓ Focus and engagement
✓ Basic obedience
✓ Confidence and emotional regulation
✓ Gradual exposure to novelty (systematic desensitization)

We don’t rush public outings — preparation and threshold awareness are what make sessions like this successful.
