Watch this moldy floor joist fall apart with a mere tap of my toe. Mold requires high humidity, warm temperatures, and a food source, such as cellulose from wood or paper. Most crawl space fungus, or molds, are meant to turn wood back into earth. The mold shown here is working very effectively in doing so. Deferred maintenance for a home can be costly.
