When you begin studying a passage, start with what’s obvious.
Who’s being mentioned?
What events are happening?
What questions is the text answering?
People and events are often the clearest starting point for observation, and paying attention to them helps uncover the historical and cultural context of a passage.
In this clip, we’re talking about how discovering facts about people and events helps build a stronger understanding of Scripture.
Sometimes deeper Bible study starts with simply noticing what’s right in front of you.

Sometimes the most challenging things in our lives… are relationships.
It’s not meant to be this way.
But we live in a broken world—and a broken world means brokenness as we relate to our fellow man.
As believers, we are not to give into the darkness when brokenness naturally shows itself in our relationships.
We are not to repay evil for evil. We are to pursue relational peace.
Of course, peace is not always possible. Sometimes even the truth itself divides (see Matt. 10:34).
But if and when peace is broken…
…may it never be because of any evil in my own heart or actions!
Studying the Bible doesn’t have to feel intimidating.
The first step?
Read. And reread. And reread again.
Before trying to understand every detail, start by simply immersing yourself in the text. The more familiar you become with a book of the Bible, the more you’ll begin to notice themes, patterns, and context.
You don’t have to figure everything out on the first read.
Start by getting the big picture.
In this clip, we’re talking about why rereading Scripture is one of the most important foundations of Bible study.

The Good Shepherd doesn’t lead selfishly.
He lays His life down for the sheep.
And the longer we walk with Jesus… the more we begin to look like Him.
That means following Jesus isn’t just about receiving His care—it’s about learning to love others with the same selfless, sacrificial posture He has toward us.
To serve without needing recognition.
To give without making it about ourselves.
To feed others instead of feeding our own ego.
Because real shepherding always costs something.
In episode 3 of the Know God Deeply podcast, we’re exploring what Jesus reveals about Himself as the Good Shepherd—and how His example reshapes the way we love and serve others.
