Good evening, CCPS families and staff:

At tonight’s meeting, the Chesterfield County School Board voted to update the current school year calendars to change the last day of school for students.

For students, the changes mean that

The last day of school for students at schools following the traditional calendar will be Friday, May 31.

The last day of school for students at schools following the year-round calendar (Bellwood and Falling Creek elementaries) will be Wednesday, May 29.

For staff, the changes mean that

At schools following the traditional calendar, June 3-4 will be on-site professional development days.

At schools following the year-round calendar (Bellwood and Falling Creek elementaries), May 30-31 will be on-site professional development days.

At all schools, teachers will have time to close out student grades.

Chesterfield County Public Schools will close two hours early today (Tuesday, Jan. 9) due to the forecast of high winds and heavy rain during the evening hours. This will allow time for the safe delivery of students and safe dismissal of staff members. All after-school activities and all activities scheduled in school facilities this afternoon and evening are canceled. The School Board meeting scheduled for this evening will be rescheduled.

A two-hour early release means buses will arrive at bus stops two hours earlier than scheduled. Families should make arrangements for this change.

Central Office staff and school building operations supervisors will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

Las Escuelas Públicas del Condado de Chesterfield cerrarán dos horas temprano hoy (martes, el 9 de enero) debido al pronóstico de fuertes vientos y fuertes lluvias durante las horas de la tarde. Esto va permitir tiempo para la entrega segura de los estudiantes y despida segura de los miembros del personal. Todas las actividades después de la escuela y todas las actividades programadas en las instalaciones escolares esta tarde y noche están canceladas. La reunión de la Junta Escolar programada para esta tarde será reprogramada.
