View of Route 20 in and out of Skaneateles, NY.

This road has been used since indigenous people used it to travel across New York, after the American Revolution, it became the western end of the Great Western Turnpike and later Cherry Valley Turnpike merging with the Great Genesee Road to Buffalo. Today the road is still called Genesee Street.

Skaneateles Lake is one of the cleanest bodies of water in New York and is the water supply for the city of Syracuse.
