The COVID-19 pandemic forced many of us to spend more time online and the reprecussions for this are only just starting to be understood. Research from New Mexico State University found that more than half of the adult population in the U.S. is either at risk of addiction or severely addicted to the internet, something exacerbated by the feelings ofdepression and anxiety the pandemic brought with it.
NMSU researcher: Pandemic led to increase in internet addiction among American adults The new study found 41 percent had probable addiction or were at risk for addiction, while 14 percent had definite or severe addiction.

Cyberbullying was a problem before the pandemic and one would think it'd get worse due to kids spending a lot more time on their phones and mobile devices. Yet research suggests the opposite, that bullying became less common. The take away - kids don't feel the need to bullying when they feel nurtured and socially safe, such as when they're spending more time at home.
