Cheviot, alarm system.
The system operated via a dedicated telephone line connected to a specialized monitoring console at the police station. If a break-in occured,, the intruder would trip the alarm, immediately sounding a buzzer at the station. A dedicated unit on the police console labeled with the business name would light up with a red warning signal, and the unit meter would register an alarm, allowing police to be dispatched to the location. Additionally, the system featured a built-in tamper protection, if an intruder attempted to cut the telephone lines to bypass the security, the station buzzer will sound, the meter will register trouble, and police will be dispatched to investigate.
The alarm didn’t cost the City of Cheviot anything, participating merchants paid fees directly to the company. There was a $75 connection fee and a $24 annual maintenance fee. The cost of the physical alarm equipment varied from several hundred to several thousand dollars depending on the size and location of the property.

Over the years, our collection has grown tremendously thanks to your generosity. While we know the identity of many of our donors, some contributions arrive anonymously, leaving us wishing we could say thank you in person.
We want to extend a thank you to the anonymous donor who recently left an America 250 flag at City Hall! This flag is a piece of history, and it will be proudly displayed as part of our collection for generations to come.
If you would like to help honor the past and plan for the future, we invite you to get involved by attending the 250 meetings,
First Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM
Cheviot City Hall, Second Floor
Free to attend and open to the public
