Appreciate Cowboy State Daily for covering this. The “kill switch” debate is about a federal mandate from the 2021 infrastructure law requiring future new vehicles to include advanced impaired driving prevention technology. Congress is now debating whether to block or repeal that mandate because of serious concerns about privacy, false positives, cost, and whether the government should require technology that can prevent your own vehicle from starting or operating. Public safety matters, but using it to justify draconian Big Brother control over private property is not the answer. The film Idiocracy was supposed to be satire, not a guide for public policy.

It was great to attend the Aloha Vaqueros event at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum yesterday. The exhibit connects the history of the Hawaiian paniolo, Mexican vaquero, and American cowboy to the ranching and rodeo traditions that remain so important to Cheyenne and Wyoming. Cowboy culture is worth celebrating, and this was a great reminder of the rich heritage behind it.
