Caught this Northern Blue Tongue Skink mid sass showing off exactly where the name comes from. That bright blue tongue isn't just for looks, it's a bluff. They will flash it at a predator telling it, "back off, I might be toxic" even though they're totally harmless.
We are super excited to have these dramatic but amazing reptiles with their unique personalities in our store!

New arrivals just made it through the door and they're jaw dropping. We've got a gorgeous biak green tree python and the cutest baby black and white tegu you'll ever see (photos below, because you just have to see them).

We also have a list of fan favorites and some new critters we know you all have been asking about.
Tarantulas, African giant millipedes, red foot tortoise, Russian tortoise, Northern blue tongue skink, striped California kingsnake, Mexican black kingsnake... this is a big one.
Everyone's still settling into their new setups so we're taking it slow with handling, but you come on in and see them for yourself. Wanted to thank everyone for the support to make this even possible and we could not do this without our community!

That's why we're putting together Northmen Care Guides. These guides will be the same husbandry standards we use in the store and talk through with you every day.

If "boa" makes you think red tail, you're gonna want to come meet our Dumeril's boa! Hailing from Madagascar, this smaller, ground dwelling snake is genuinely one of the chillest snakes we've had in the store.

We've got red tails in the shop too right now, so for the first time you can walk in and see both side by side and feel the size and personality difference yourself. Pictures don't do it justice, come hold one and see what we mean. Our staff are always excited to introduce you to these amazing animals and answer any questions you have!

Creature Feature of the Week: Chahoua Gecko, also known as the Chewie Gecko!
Related to the Crested and Gargoyle Geckos, Chewie Geckos are native to the island of New Caledonia and are natural camouflage experts thanks to their mossy coloration. Handling these guys has its own rewards. They have some of the most exciting personalities, and unlike their cousins, they'll rarely drop their tail. If they do, they'll actually grow it back, something Crested Geckos can't do.
Their tail is one of their most important features, basically a 5th limb they use to climb and hold on while moving, and they'll even wrap it around your finger while you hold them.
So why a Chewie Gecko? While they're sometimes described as "wall gremlins" and can be territorial, they end up being some of the best geckos to work with once they get familiar with you and their environment. One of the coolest things about them is their ability to vocalize. They push air across specialized vocal cords to make a sound that, if I had to describe it, sounds almost like cats fighting. They use it to express discomfort or stress, attract mates, and defend their territory.
