Big changes are coming to the trucking industry. đźš›

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), alongside the U.S. Department of Transportation, is proposing tougher rules to crack down on chameleon carriers and noncompliant driver training schools.

With support from U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs, the new rulemakings aim to:

✔️ End self-certification for entry-level driver training schools
✔️ Strengthen DOT identity verification to stop carriers from reopening under new numbers
✔️ Require state motor vehicle departments to conduct all CDL testing
✔️ Add stricter broker qualification requirements
✔️ Ensure CDL testing is conducted in English

The goal? Restore integrity, remove bad actors, and ensure that the drivers operating 80,000-lb rigs on our highways are properly trained and qualified.

Safety isn’t optional — it’s the standard.

A fully loaded truck can take up to 40% longer to stop than a passenger vehicle.

Freight weight, braking systems, road conditions, and speed all affect stopping distance—especially at highway speeds.

Understanding these limits helps everyone on the road make safer decisions around commercial vehicles.

At Celeritas Freight Solutions, sharing industry knowledge supports safer trucking and more informed freight movement.
