Framed as an evolution of Arts + Public Life’s Vends + Vibes (a holiday marketplace), L1 is intended for ready-to-scale small business owners who have already developed a customer base and product line that is relevant to or well-received by Chicago South Side consumers.

Pop ups have evolved into temporary interventions that can amplify the voices of local residents and build wealth in communities of color. Listen to non-profits from Washington D.C., Chicago and Atlanta describe a mobile small business kiosk, retail space for local entrepreneurs in a CTA station, and marketplace for small businesses. Projects represented include the 11th Street Bridge Park, University of Chicago’s L1 Creative Business Accelerator + Retail Store, and the Atlanta Beltline who will share successes, challenges and what defines success in each city.
