When I talk about accountability, I’m talking about the control you have over what you do or do not agree to. So actually taking accountability looks and sounds like honoring your word.

What is your relationship to honoring your word?

What are those patterns and behaviors that show up when you’re avoiding accountability?

We asked leaders to pick two behaviors and actually give each one a name—I avoid, I pretend, I stay silent—and had them reflect on what those behaviors look and sound like in action.

We also asked them to name what they get out of it all. What are the benefits and costs of that behavior? Do the costs outweigh the benefits?

Oftentimes we’re engaging in these patterns for so long that we don’t actually step back and ask, oh, is this working for me?
