A shout out to U.S. government agency Peace Corps Zambia for its great contributions working throughout Zambia to educate communities on HIV/AIDS through the Grassroot Soccer program!

American Peace Corps Volunteers use soccer to mobilize communities and teach about HIV prevention. The initiative is making a positive impact, fostering HIV education and awareness.

“I like the program and it’s really good. The kids are learning and they talk with their families and friends about what they have learned," said Maureen Kandeeta, a community volunteer in the Mutandalike area in Choma. Maureen worked on the HIV Grassroot Soccer program with a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, reaching 34 participants in Mutandalike last year.

In 2022, the U.S. invested over $500 million (10 billion kwacha) to combat HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and vaccine-preventable diseases; improve nutrition, and promote better family planning in Zambia.

Also note that our EducationUSA Adviser will be at American Corner NIPA every Wednesday from 14:00hrs to 17:00hrs to answer questions on the U.S university application process, assist with personal statements, provide information about standardized tests like the SATs, ACTs, TOEFL, Duolingo, and address any other questions about opportunities to study in the U.S.
