This May was awesome! From Wormy-composting, self-defense Jiu Jitsu, to flowers for our amazing mother’s, we had a time in our After School Program. This week ends our school year as we get ready to kick-off our Summer Camp! Be on the lookout for more info!

The Need for Food is Real

In these challenging times, Port Ministries is humbled by the growing need within our community. The Southside Collective, an incredible group of volunteers, restocks our Love Fridge weekly. Recently, we've observed lines of individuals waiting for these restocks, underscoring the escalating demand. Our Bread Truck is more essential than ever, providing over 500 meals daily to those in need.​

The Cost of Hunger: Implications for the City

Food insecurity can lead to increased healthcare costs, reduced academic performance among children, and heightened demand for social services. Mobile food pantries, like our Bread Truck, play a crucial role in alleviating these issues by providing accessible nutrition to underserved populations. Without such services, cities might face higher public expenditures related to health complications stemming from malnutrition and increased support needs for affected families.​
