Losing a police officer in the line of duty is heartbreaking. But losing one because of violent criminals and their actions that are allowed back on the streets when they should have been in jail is beyond tragic — it is disgraceful.
Chicago continues to bury heroes while certain politicians continue protecting failed policies and dangerous narratives.
We are tired of elected officials rushing to crime scenes to defend offenders, calling violent criminals “victims,” reassuring the public everything is “safe,” while refusing to acknowledge the sacrifice of the officers who gave their lives protecting this city.
You know who you are?
Not once do we hear:
“Pray for the officer.”
“Support the family.”
“Enough is enough.”
Instead, officers and innocent victims are told they were simply in the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
No. They were exactly where they were supposed to be — standing between violent criminals and innocent people, who are simply wanting a safe city and enjoy life, not political agendas.
Today we honor Officer John G. Bartholomew – End of Watch: April 25, 2026 and remember the other Chicago Police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice:
• Officer Krystal Rivera – End of Watch: June 5, 2025
• Officer Enrique Martinez – End of Watch: November 4, 2024
• Officer James Crowley – End of Watch: August 22, 2024
• Officer Luis M. Huesca – End of Watch: April 21, 2024
• Officer Aréanah M. Preston – End of Watch: May 6, 2023
• Officer Andres M. Vasquez Lasso – End of Watch: March 1, 2023
• Officer Ella Grace French – End of Watch: August 7, 2021
• Officer Conrad Charles Gary – End of Watch: December 17, 2018
• Officer Eduardo Marmolejo – End of Watch: December 17, 2018
• Officer Samuel Jimenez – End of Watch: November 19, 2018
• Commander Paul R. Bauer – End of Watch: February 13, 2018
These were not statistics.
These were sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, friends, and partners.
Chicago deserves leadership that stands with victims, communities, and the men and women risking their lives every single day — not politicians protecting agendas that continue failing the public.
Never forget their sacrifice.
Eternal rest grant unto them.
