I want to take a moment to give a well-deserved shout out to the Black Researchers Collective.
Today, they hosted a powerful and engaging community conversation right here in Bronzeville, at Northwestern Memorial. The focus was centered on hearing directly from the community—lifting up the voices, ideas, and vision of residents, not only for the neighborhood as a whole, but specifically for what we want to see within the community space housed inside the Memorial Center.
It was truly a beautiful gathering. Neighbors and community members from across the district showed up, engaged, and contributed to a meaningful dialogue. Several elected officials were also in attendance, demonstrating a shared commitment to listening and building alongside the community.
Moments like this matter. Spaces where the community is not only heard, but centered, are critical to the work of building stronger, safer, and more connected neighborhoods.
Congratulations again to the Black Researchers Collective for hosting such an impactful event. We look forward to many more opportunities to build together.

A statement from WatchGuard Chicago
Over the past weeks, since the increased presence of ICE and the National Guard in Chicago, WatchGuard Chicago has expanded our evening patrols… keeping watch over our neighborhoods and monitoring for enforcement activity.
Last week, we were asked to partner with other organizations to provide safety and support for a church on the South Side whose pastor had previously been targeted and harmed by ICE. We accepted that call.
I’m honored to say that today’s operation was a success. No one was harmed. Though there were reports that a few parishioners were stopped by ICE while on their way to service, no one was taken into custody, and all arrived safely. The congregation was able to worship and leave the church in peace.
Let me be unequivocally clear… we reject the egregious actions of this administration. We do not agree with these attacks on people whose rights are being violated… and we will not stand idly by.
WatchGuard Chicago will continue to patrol, to do our best to protect and serve our community, and to devise strategies that reduce… and where possible, eliminate… harm to our people and our neighborhoods.
We will be hosting a Know Your Rights workshop very soon… open to everyone in the community… to equip people with knowledge of their constitutional protections and practical steps to support one another.
This moment is an all-hands-on-deck moment. To believe that what is happening now will not impact us all is a mistake. History has shown that when harm is normalized against one group, it eventually reaches us all. For those who are in alignment… please understand… this is the time to stand together… we are all we have… and it’s going to take all of us to protect each of us.

Peace!
WatchGuard is reaching out to ask for your assistance. We want to continue doing the work we've been doing, however two of our vehicles are sidelined and in need of repairs. Yeah we were driving the Hell out of these machines. 😄
For details read our story in the GoFundMe page.
If what we do for Bronzeville matters to you, please consider donating whatever you can to help us cover vehicle repairs and keep our patrols on the road. Every cent goes toward getting our fleet back in service so we can continue serving the hood.
Thanking anyone for whatever they can contribute whenever they can. And if you can't, we totally understand, it's rough out here for a lot of people.
