TIN CAN 2026_______
Started in 2024 with support from the Cook County Small Business Bureau’s Source Fund, TIN CAN offers dancemakers at all career stages a low-stakes on ramp for presenting new ideas. Three artists are selected for each showing, where they present 15 minutes of work at any stage of its development. After the showing, artists receive active, participatory and supportive feedback from the community through a facilitated conversation led in the style of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process. These conversations offer dancemakers an active role in the critique of their own work, and offers audiences new touchpoints for experiencing art.

Folks presenting work in 2026 are a combination of our do-it-together residency artists, work/trade participants, previous facilitators, and artists currently engaged in a long-form rehearsal process at bim bom.

ANNOUNCING : the « do-it-together » residency

the “do-it-together” residency is a practice of gratitude for the dance + performance artists who use the studio the most. as we enter our fifth year(!!!!), we’re thinking deeply about our place in the Chicago performance community and how we can share the resources we have a little better. for 2026, we’ve invited the artists who have called the studio home for the most hours since our inception to deepen their practice with:

-20 hours of in-kind rehearsal space
-guaranteed participation in 2026 TIN CAN (our work-in-progress series for works under 15 minutes), and first choice in performance date

we respect the commitment these artists have for their practice, and believe that commitment not only sustains the artist - but all the other artists who use the studio as well. without their time spent in the studio, we could not keep our doors open in the way that we do.

we anticipate continuing this tradition year on year with details announced each January.

stay tuned for details about upcoming TIN CAN dates〰️〰️〰️〰️
