I never thought I would have to focus consciously on breathing as a normal part of my day. I am in my second week of pulmonary rehab, which I attend twice a week. It’s a monitored cardio and strengthening workout to improve lung capacity and heart function. I’m seeing some improvement in my stamina and while the steps are small and progress is slow, I feel like I’m achieving some forward motion. Tackling the 32 stairs to my apartment is less daunting, showers no longer leave me out of breath and I can walk a couple of blocks without requiring my portable oxygen. I am a little nervous about living expenses heading into the cold months now especially with the federal freeze on SNAP EBT FOOD assistance starting Nov. 1st, due to our lovely government shutdown. Need some additional assistance. This PJP pneumonia wiped me out way more than I could have ever anticipated. I recovered more quickly from my stem cell transplant. I’m still on oxygen and my ability to exert even minimal activity is radically limited. I have been referred for outpatient respiratory therapy and get a full pulmonary function test on the 26th of August which will better help my pulmonologist determine the degree of damage and scarring the pneumonia has caused my lungs. I’m going stir crazy but trying to stay home and rest as much as possible. I’m really only leaving to get groceries or supplies. Please help out if you are able and send good healing vibes. 4 years ago today my mother transitioned into the realm of whatever may be next. Hopefully a new beautiful existence more peaceful and tranquil. I felt the weight of grief fall upon me today. I’ve recently heard grief described as the excess love we were not able to express when people are alive. This is a favorite pic of my mother and my nephew, her 1st born grandchild, Tyler dancing at his wedding. Her presence made every experience just that much better. She was deeply loved by many and her presence is undeniably missed. May she be siting in a comfy chair reading a book. Not a day goes by that something brings her to my mind.
