NEIUGround, Northeastern’s community garden, is coming this spring!
Northeastern Illinois University will partner with the Peterson Garden Project to create NEIU\Ground, an urban garden that replicates the successful “pop up” gardens produced by this neighborhood organization. This exciting venture supports the university’s two-year Reimagining Food initiative.
Do you want to grow your own food but need a place to do it? A limited number of garden plots are available to the Northeastern community. If you would like a membership for a garden plot, please apply here. Information on membership fees and required training are listed on the application.
Applications are due by Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.
Important Dates To Remember:
Sat. March 29 - Chavez Day of Service: Help build the garden (weather permitting). Garden members who have been accepted are not required to attend, but it is a great way to support the construction of NEIU-Ground.
Sat., April 22 - Garden Opens: Garden plots are assigned to accepted members (weather permitting). Information on accessing the garden will be provided.
Students and student organization should please contact, Linzi Johnston at [email protected]
Faculty, staff, Northeastern departments and offices should please contact, Kris Pierre at [email protected] or Katherine Gleiss at [email protected]
