The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a directive for the "temporary grounding of specific Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft," the same model involved in the recent Alaska Airlines blowout incident.

As per the FAA's instruction, these aircraft are to be grounded until urgent inspections are completed, a process estimated to require "approximately four to eight hours per aircraft."

This directive affects a total of 171 Boeing 737-9 Max jets, according to the agency's official statement.

It's important to note that the Max series, particularly the Max 8 model, underwent a nearly two-year grounding following two tragic crashes associated with a different flaw.

Remarkably, among African airlines, Air Tanzania stands as the sole operator of the Boeing 737-9 Max model.
