Another win against Milan Fashion Week!

The reality is no one wants to associate with the fur industry.

Until MFW goes officially FUR-FREE - any business associated with them is on notice with the global anti-fur movement.

🎉 PORTLAND JUST BANNED FOIE GRAS. 🎉

After years of organizing - protests, outreach, lobbying - Portland city council voted to prohibit the sale of foie gras. This is a huge victory.

Foie gras is produced by forcing thick, foot-long tubes down the throats of ducks and geese three times a day until their livers become diseased. 81% of Portland residents supported banning it, and we’re grateful city council listened.

Huge thanks to co-sponsors Mitch Green, Jamie Dunphy, Tiffany Koyama Lane, and Angelita Morillo for their leadership, and to the 650+ people who submitted written testimony. Thank you to the Pro-Animal Oregon activists who never gave up.

The two largest foie gras producers in the United States, Hudson Valley Foie Gras La Belle are watching their market crumble. These farms have spent years fighting bans in court and lobbying against legislation, but it’s not going to work. They may as well give up now. With campaigns active in Washington DC and Denver, the industry is running out of places to sell their diseased torture-products, and that’s an existential threat.

Portland joins New York City, Pittsburgh, and Brookline, MA in saying: not here. But we’re just getting started. Denver voters will have the opportunity to go foie-gras-free in November, and we’re trying to get it on the ballot in DC as well. Since DC is the third largest consumer of foie gras in the US, that would be devastating to the industry.
