Just over ONE MONTH until we celebrate this year’s recipient of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Creative Places Award!

Last year, the South Side Sanctuary was honored for transforming a once-vacant lot in Bronzeville into a vibrant hub for wellness, recreation, business development, and creativity. Led by The Nascent Group and co-founded by Cecilia Cuff and Jasmine Michaels, this project shows what’s possible when art, design, and community come together.🎨🧘‍♀️🩵

Join us on June 25 as we celebrate another incredible winner!

Creative placemaking works because communities lead it. LISC Chicago is proud to support the local partners, artists, and culture bearers making it happen. From murals to community gardens to cultural spaces, this work is reshaping neighborhoods across Chicago and the suburbs.

At LISC, creative placemaking is woven into all the work we do, from commercial corridor revitalization to affordable housing and mixed‑use development and small business and cultural economy support.
