DESIGN: to conceive and plan out in the mind; to have as a purpose: INTEND; to devise for a specific function or end

Everything we do at Menu Collective is done with intention. The beverages we create are not by accident or luck.

The design phase of our process is a critical step to ensure we provide top notch concepts or formulas to our clients.

Whenever possible, we like to see what new drinks are lurking about, waiting to take the marketplace by storm….

We were lucky enough to collect a mass amount of beverages from the most recent trade show () in Chicago the other week.

Our team tasted these (pictured) & here are our thoughts!

Mad Tasty | Yuzu Citrus pure sparkling water w/20mg h**p extract

Flavor: very light, not distinctly yuzu, but rather more citric acid-like w/a bitter after taste likely coming from the h**p.

Look: fun & whimsical, definitely eye-catching in a way that made us want to try this beverage! It actually reminded us of the street art see around the West Loop.

Psychedelic Water | Hibiscus + Lime w/kava root, damiana leaf and green tea leaf extract
Flavor: high in flavor, but that isn’t always good. A more flavorful beverage, but lime flavor was overwhelming - citrus can be tough to get “right”. We also attributed the slight bitterness, which tasted of zest, to the lime flavor as well. Some added spice, either coming from the hibiscus or perhaps coming from a functional ingredient added some nuance creating a more complex beverage.
Look: cool looking packaging with minimal bright pink flavor call out on a psychedelic looking can - but given the drink is not actually psychedelic, it was a little confusing.

Sunday Seltzer | Ginger Carbonated Water w/20mg h**p extract
Flavor: truly the most subtle in flavor, it makes sense this has Seltzer in the name. The ginger was faint enough to question whether it was flavored at all - but lacking the spicy kick you normally get with ginger was what really threw us for a loop. A hint of bitterness at the end seemed more pronounced than expected - likely because of the subtleness of the overall flavor or possible lack of flavor modulators to help cover up the bitterness.
Packaging/Branding: fits in with the look of canned alcoholic product with ease, small, negligible graphics fit the minimal look in branding overall.
