We're honored to be recognized for two years in a row with an Environmental Action Grant from NiSource Charitable Foundation, NIPSCO, and Columbia Gas. Thank you!!
This grant will help us with our restoration work in Hobart, Indiana, where we are restoring a vacant, polluted 40-acre site into a public nature preserve with wetlands, prairie, and recreational amenities. This restoration project fulfills the dreams of generations of residents who wanted to see this site's restoration for the community. Learn more about our restoration work here: https://delta-institute.org/project/hobart-legacy/
In its eleventh year, NIPSCO’s Environmental Grant has donated $824,170 to date, helping 194 projects come to fruition across Northern Indiana. This year’s projects highlight Northern Indiana’s desire for water conservation, invasive species education, Monarch habitat development, Indiana Dunes National Park engagement, youth nature and exploration and wildlife habitat expansion. Nearly all funded projects and programs include community engagement components, encouraging residents to give back and experience nature through stewardship, fellowship and partnership. We are so grateful to everyone who celebrated Earth Day with us last week at our 14th annual BOOST competition. What an evening of inspiring new ideas to make Chicago and the Midwest a more sustainable place for us to live, work, and play. đź’š

We especially want to congratulate this year's grand prize winners: Nathan Czuba of Midwest Science and Salvage and Sherry Skalko of Reduce Waste Chicago -- both start-ups will receive $5,000 each to continue investing in their work. And we also want to give big accolades to this year's runners up: Sarah Horn of Eco Chic Events and Ellen White of Ecofixr, for their outstanding programs that make local parties and Chicago film more sustainable for all! ♻️

We'd also like to thank all of our sponsors and in-kind supporters who made the evening possible! Thank you so much to American Family Insurance, William Blair, Peoples Gas, United, Anonymous, Solar Landscape, Green Pro Bono, and West Monroe.

Please enjoy these great pictures, captured courtesy of Cara Ditmar 📸
