My two new favorite pieces of gear for canning! The electric canner is also a multi-cooker. It can do both water bath canning and pressure canning with just the press of a button. Can do up to 5 large quart jars or several smaller jars at once. The jam and jelly maker takes all the guesswork out, and means I don’t have to be attached to the stove! No worries about boiling over, and the machine has an internal stirring mechanism to ensure consistent results. Yesterday I did 4 pints worth of black raspberries and two pints worth of red currants and got them all cooked and preserved start to finish in under 2 hours!

Sometimes you just need a dinner with friends, but have no bandwidth or time to cook. And sometimes you need it precisely for those same reasons. I love a toss it together meal with lots of easy store-bought potluck nibbles to graze on. fried chicken, muffaletta and red beans and rice. green tomato chow chow. pasta salads courtesy of our pals. And .wine rosé, which is one of our favorite summer sips with food. Not shown, s’mores pie. Perfect summer visit at the end of a very long week.
