tomorrow! —-> Transgressing the Medium: Photography as Poetics

—-> haven’t signed up yet? We still have a few tickets left for tomorrow’s workshop with ! Link in bio ⛓📷

The first workshop as part of our new "I Read Stuff, at Home" series- where artists, booksellers, and readers alike can gather to share their processes, stories, and encounters with books...

This one-off, two-hour (sliding scale) workshop devised by Madeline Zuzevich (), examines the politics and poetics behind photographic documentation. Artists will explore the ubiquity of family archives, seeing imagery through the lens of language. In engaging with photographic theory from scholars like bell hooks and Mette Sandbye, we will critique the racial and gender-related implications of photography by tracing research and discussion into shared written works.

Madeline Zuzevich is a Chicago-based writer and analog photographer. Her writing and research foreground spatial relations within the home, examining gender identity and sexuality concerning domesticity. She works across a variety of mediums, including language, photography, and sculpture. Her debut poetry chapbook, CAVITY, was released in June 2022.

In preparation for our workshop, make sure to...
