One of my favorite history nuggets is the story of the oldest person to storm the beaches of Normandy. He survived that day but never made it to Paris. He died 5 weeks later of a heart attack.

With his cane, the only general to lead onto the beaches that day had one of the most famous names in American history but not everyone know his heroic tale.
