High School Class Reunion

Another request brings us to USS Little Rock. Commissioned in mid 1945 she did not see any action in the Second World War and was placed in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet in 1949. In the late 1950s she was converted into a Galveston class guided cruiser. Recommissioned on the 3rd of June 1960 as USS Little Rock(CLG-4) she would later be involved in the 6 day war as a command ship for NATO vessels in the area and assisting injured crew members of the USS Liberty which was attack by Israeli forces. In the mid 1970s she also collided with the Greek destroyer Lonchi causing significant damage to her bow and causing her to need emergency repairs at Malta. She returned to the US and had repairs and another overhaul November 1970 to spring 1971. She would then resume to her duty as flagship of the Sixth Fleet until her decommissioning in 1976. She now resides as a museum ship in Buffalo, New York. (Information from Wikipedia)

Sank at the battle of North Cape in 1943 by naval gunnery from HMS Duke of York, HMS Belfast, HMS Sheffield and HMS Norfolk as well as torpedo strikes from HMS Jamaica and HMS Belfast. 1968 sailors died with only 36 being picked from the water(wiki)
