Take the Pledge to Sledge: Staking and Striking
Staking and striking are critical parts of tent installation, but they can also create risks for hands, feet, equipment, and surrounding utilities.
What’s the hazard?
Hammering stakes, pulling stakes, moving equipment, and working around tensioned lines can lead to pinch points, struck-by injuries, foot injuries, and damage to underground utilities.
What’s the control?
Use proper spacing, communicate clearly, wear appropriate PPE, and keep hands and feet clear of impact zones. Confirm underground utility markings before staking begins.
Crew reminder:
A safer job site starts before the first stake goes in. Communicate, check your surroundings, and protect your crew.
