Maria. A lovely friend and coffee farm owner. She lives in a magical place. There is no better way to describe it. Can you hear the crunch of the still-warm empanadas that she greeted us with to start our day? Inside of each revealing a soft potato and pork filling. She then made us "her" Pure Canopy coffee (harvested recently from her farm) via a small pour-over as we sat and talked. The wifi is strong at the finca due to a rare direct line-of-sight down a canyon to the valley floor far below. In the house photo you can see the wifi reflector dish in the the upper floor. We used that connectivity and conducted our first "Meet and Greet" between an excited group in Chicago and Maria. Many wonderful questions and interesting answers.... If you would like to take part in something like that in the future let me know! Maybe you have a class of students or employees who want to meet a farmer and chat. Have your baristas ever met a farmer? We can do that... We are back to our second home of Colombia in May so please let me know. I digress... After our "high-tech" hour we walked the finca and saw some of the new harvest, still a week or more before it is dry enough for processing. You know, it was so still. Also we picked avocado, macadamia nuts and snapped some aloe leaves to condition or sun exposure from the day before. It was so quiet... you could touch the clouds as they came across the mountain peak. That is not a figure of speech. You may be able to see... the top of her house... it looks a little misty in the photo... that is the bottom of a cloud. We were standing at about 5,800 feet. Her second floor is at about 5,830 :) You could feel the water micro-droplets on you face as it passed. There is a moment in time...

Meet Claudia! She is an incredible woman, one of those we call WONDER WOMAN! She is an entrepreneur, a farmer, a wife, a mother, etc.

Claudia is part of the group of 350 women farmers who are affiliated with the Coffee Cooperative that we work with..

She has a beautiful farm for which she works every day.
She not only grows coffee but also takes care of the migratory birds and she has a bee farm.

In the nearby small village she has a store where she has her own brand of coffee.

Also she prepares, sells and distributes coffee liqueurs made from local natural ingredients.

Part of our Pure Canopy brand of coffee include that grown and harvested by Claudia.

Every day I confirm more that the flavor is in the cup the beauty is in the field!!! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡΄πŸ«ΆπŸ»
