It’s kind of nice walking the urban valleys of Chicago’s man-made mountain ranges (streets and buildings, that is).

Light and glass, when creatively brought together, can create an experience that is both awe inspiring and beautiful. In what was once Chicago’s Central Public Library, the glass art done by Louis Comfort Tiffany and his artisans is just that. I love passing through what is now Chicago’s Cultural Museum when I’m in the area. This spot is always an inspiration to me.

Having good people in your life that can push you to be your best self is an important part of a fulfilled human experience. I’m fortunate that my husband is that for me. He’s loving and supportive and I always love our time together. Here we are walking along the Chicago river. Even a simple walk can be amazing when you’ve got good company.

I may be adventurous, but I do have to encourage myself to have a little more courage sometimes. I guess like the Cowardly Lion, I can look tough but be all soft inside. Here’s to having more courage to take on whatever the world throws my way.
Oz Park in Chicago is a beautiful spot with statues of all the familiar Oz characters. I love that L. Frank Baum wrote his iconic books here in Chicago. It’s the simple things that make me smile.

Sometimes the story is all about how you got there. Chicago’s transportation system is no exception since the stores that surround the infamous “L” are too numerous to count. It’s always neat to see blasts from the past when you explore museums. I love getting glimpses into what was, like seeing this historic train vehicle at the Chicago History Museum. What stories are you exploring today?

The streets of Chicago always have stories to tell. Around almost every corner there are reminders of the myriad of life experiences that have been lived here. I’m really enjoying learning them and how they form one large narrative about one of the world’s most interesting cities. At least in my rankings that is. It’s also good to get some inspiration for my own stores while I’m exploring.
Thanks for this beautiful building, Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler. Oh, and did you know that Frank Lloyd Wright worked on it a bit too! Made to be a mixed used building, it also is home to the beautiful Auditorium Theatre. Hope you all are out exploring something amazing today.
