At 95 years old, June continues to make an impact by sharing her story and the science behind SuperAging with communities across Chicago.

As a SuperAging Ambassador, she demonstrates that learning has no age limit. Like many of our participants, she has embraced the opportunity to learn about the science behind SuperAging and now helps educate others in her community by sharing both the science and her personal experiences.

Partnership with participants is at the heart of the SuperAging Research Initiative. Their voices, insights, and dedication help advance research while inspiring others to think differently about aging. We are grateful to June and all of our SuperAgers who remind us that curiosity, purpose, and lifelong learning can thrive at any age.

A special thank you to Congregation Etz Chaim for welcoming us to your monthly Lunch & Learn series and providing an opportunity to share the science of SuperAging!

The SuperAging Research Initiative is working to better understand brain health and aging by studying older adults with exceptional memory and cognition.

Researchers across all five SuperAging sites are now enrolling participants to help advance discoveries that may shape the future of aging and Alzheimer’s disease research. By participating, you can help researchers learn more about resilience, memory, and what it means to age well.

What if the hardest part of losing someone wasn't the goodbye, but the silence between the memories?

We are fighting to decode the complex brain pathologies that drive dementia: to move past the labels and find the breakthroughs that actually change lives.

We’re at 70% of our goal with just 48 hours left to reach the finish line. We don’t just need supporters; we need champions to help us bridge the final gap.

Will you help us secure the data that saves memories?

At every stage of life, there is something new to discover and something meaningful to share. For Frances, championing her health means staying consistent and intentional. She schedules regular check ins, prioritizes prevention, and continues learning through every phase of life.

Her mindset is simple but powerful: live and let others live without passing judgment. What she loves most about this stage of life is the ability to share experiences and perspectives, discovering how our lifestyles differ and how they beautifully connect us. What surprised her most about aging was discovering SuperAging itself.

What began as curiosity became a truly positive revelation. This Older Americans Month, we celebrate stories like Frances’ that inspire curiosity, connection, and a joyful commitment to living well. Administration for Community Living

Some adults continue to thrive well into their 80s—and we want to learn from them. The SuperAging Research Initiative is enrolling adults age 80+ with strong memory and thinking skills.

This research helps us better understand what supports brain health over time and how we can apply those insights for future generations. Know someone who might be a fit? We’d love to connect! Learn more: https://haarc.center.uchicago.edu/superaging/.
