Cinco de Mayo Meets Wi-Fi Woes

This story was inspired by one of our Small Bytes family, who decided last year he was going to host a high-tech celebration for Cinco de Mayo. Not just food and music—oh no—this was going to be a virtual fiesta!

He proudly announced to his friends:
“Y’all don’t even have to leave your house. Just join me on that Zoom thing!”

Fast forward to party time…
One friend joined with no camera, just a ceiling fan spinning like it was doing the salsa.
Another accidentally turned on a cat filter and spent the entire party saying, “I don’t know why I have whiskers!”
The host himself? He muted everyone… and then gave a 20-minute speech to complete silence.

Finally, his daughter stepped in:
“Dad… you’ve been talking on mute this whole time.”

He paused, looked at the screen, and said:
“Well… at least nobody interrupted me!”

By the end of the night, they figured it out—music playing, cameras on, and everyone laughing. One friend even said:
“This might be the first Cinco de Mayo where the only thing stronger than the margaritas… was the Wi-Fi signal!”

Small Bytes Tip:
Before your next virtual celebration:
* Do a quick tech check (camera, sound, internet)
* Practice using mute/unmute
* And don’t be afraid to ask:
“Hey ChatGPT, how do I host a Zoom party step-by-step?”

Because at Small Bytes, we believe…
Learning technology should be just as fun as the party!
