The Urban Health Early Outreach Program

The Urban Health Early Outreach Program (EOP) was created in 1981 as the pre-college pipeline program to the University of Illinois at Chicago Urban Health Program. The EOP was among the first on the UIC campus to recognize the opportunity for skills building in reading, math, and science and the specific application of these content areas to health sciences preparation and social determinants of health.

The mission of the EOP is to recruit and attract the next generation of leaders in health, health sciences education/research, and literacy activism. The EOP partners with UIC College of Education literacy initiatives and Urban Health Programs in the Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Applied Health Sciences and the UI Cancer Center.
