This famous stunt was filmed on September 21, 1979, for the action movie The Hunter (1980), which starred Steve McQueen in his final film role.

The Stunt: A green 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix was launched using a pressurized air cannon from the 17th floor of the west tower's spiral parking ramp. It crashed through a protective barrier and plunged over 200 feet down into the Chicago River below.
