Once Subaru’s wild-child, the WRX grew up some, getting more refined driving manners in its 2022 regeneration. It’s refreshing to see a twin turbocharged V6 engine where once only the brawn of a V8 was imagined to suffice but in keeping with today’s global climate crisis, if consumer demand remains for these kings of the road, it’d be on-topic to see a hybrid drivetrain in the making.

Despite what may be experienced as a lack in road prowess, with prices at the pump topping $6 a gallon in some parts of the USA and with the global carbon footprint teetering on existential zero-hour, the emission-free all-electric 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 is a credible crossover with a compelling barrier to entry in the mid-forties - made even more compelling by incentivizing with three years of free charging to restore the fast-charge lithium-ion battery pack. Good things come in small packages. Better things come in small German-engineered packages.
