In the fast-paced world we’re moving toward, if you observe closely, you’ll notice a few things:

🌊 Many African Americans no longer primarily identify themselves through the label “Black” alone, but through broader cultural, professional, and individual identities!

🌊 People with European ancestry rarely introduce themselves by repeatedly saying, “I’m White, I’m White” (unless they’re trying to make a point about race)!!

Drawing from my experiences working as an urban planner on historic landmark nomination projects in Champaign, Illinois, and conducting research on anti-monumental architecture in Syracuse, New York, I’d like to offer my two cents to South Asians:

Bhai, let’s stop calling ourselves “brown,” at least on online platforms as digital creators.🙏🏻🙌🏻🤲🏻

1. Because people who can reach out to me are Angels
2. And I am precisely intentional about anything that I am doing
3. It’s always either a 100 or a 0 for me
