It was a beautiful morning running the Garfield Ridge Stars and Stripes 5K in honor of Chicago firefighter Drew Price, who laid his life on the line battling a fire in Nov. 2023. We owe a debt we can never fully repay to those who make the ultimate sacrifice. Mahalo, FF Price. 🤙🏼🤍
This is the second time in a week where we spotted smoke in the distance from Skycam9 and arrived on scene to find a fire. This was at 8 a.m. on the outbound Edens approaching Peterson Ave. Thankfully it appeared everyone in the car got out before it caught fire. Kudos to the Chicago firefighters who got on scene moments after the fire started and had this extinguished quickly.

: I heard back from a contact I reached out to and I’m back. I appreciate all who helped flagged this. 🙏🏼 I find there are still many people, with a variety of opinions and viewpoints on there, who want to engage in meaningful conversations, and many agencies who post official updates, that it is still a very useful tool as a reporter. Hopefully if someone reported it, they decide not to do so again, and if this was an automated issue, then hopefully it is resolved!

For anyone who follows me on X (formerly Twitter) my account has been suspended and placed permanently in read-only mode. I cannot even begin to fathom why. I take a lot of pride in the work I do, and do it with authenticity, truthfulness, and try to be as informative as possible. According to the email I received, I was suspended for “inauthentic behavior,” which could include impersonation, fake personas (AI, deep fakes, etc) fraud/malicious links, and more — none of which I have EVER engaged in.
If you are on X, especially if you have a verified/paid account, please tweet at the platform and Elon Musk, and let them know my account was wrongfully suspended. I have spent years trying to build a trusted following on there, and this is really disheartening to see.
Thank you, in advance!! 🙏🏼
Really honored and grateful to have been given the opportunity to be part of the FBI Chicago Citizens Academy program as part of Class #23!
It’s been eight great weeks of education, important conversations, and the opportunity to better understand investigative capabilities/responsibilities within the operational branches and divisions. I’ve been covering law enforcement/public safety for many years, and have always been a firm believer in educating myself (I’ve done use of force classes, trainings with first responders, etc.) to better cover cases in a procedural and informed way. This was unlike anything I’ve done before.
It was great to connect not only with the folks at the bureau, but also my classmates who come from diverse backgrounds from law enforcement to nonprofit, IT work, private security, human rights advocacy work, and more.

Do you have a big event coming up in your community? A special celebration you want to share with others? Something fun and visual you think would make for great TV? Want to highlight your school? Think signs, big crowds, something fun or unique — bonus if both! If all of this hits close to home, it sounds like you’re someone who might be great for a WGN Superfan Flyover! We still have a number of Fridays in late July, August and September open.
These always happen around 7:20 a.m. (unfortunately we get a lot of messages for things happening later, but we don’t have flexibility with the timing on these). If you’d like to sign up, you can request a flyover at the link below. If we are able to set it up, I will follow up! https://wgntv.com/morning-news/want-a-wgn-morning-news-super-fan-friday-flyover-enter-here/amp/
