Researchers at Illinois Tech are seeking 5 African American undergraduate students with disabilities majoring in technology-related fields (e.g., engineering, ITM, psychology) to serve as ambassadors for the federally-funded Tech-Jobs program.

WHAT IS TECH JOBS?
Tech-Jobs is a 10-week virtual group to prepare students for careers related to technology. Topics include career assessment, virtual field trips, interview skills, and workplace advocacy training as well as access to mentoring and job search resources. This project is funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).

WHAT DOES A TECH-JOBS AMBASSADOR DO?
As an ambassador, students will work closely with the research team to provide feedback and help pilot the Tech-Jobs program. The project is virtual and the commitment is around 1.5-2 hours per week for a semester.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A TECH-JOBS STUDENT AMBASSADOR?
This is a great opportunity for leadership, peer mentorship and research experience to include on your resume. Time and effort will be compensated. This is a virtual project, and students can participate from the comfort of their own home.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Undergraduate students who are Black/African American, self-identify as having a disability (e.g., learning disability, depression, anxiety, physical disability, etc) and are pursuing a technology-related field are eligible to apply.

HOW DO I APPLY?
Interested students should complete an application at our website www.careertechjobs.org or for additional information, contact us at [email protected]

We look forward to hearing from you!
