CW: SUDEP 💜 Anthony Maffie was 22 years old when he died of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). He had only experienced seven seizures in his life.
This is his family's story, and a look at the science happening at Boston Children’s Hospital to make sure no other family goes through the same loss.
SUDEP affects approximately 1 in 1,000 people with epilepsy. For decades, it was a risk many neurologists dismissed as too rare to discuss. CURE Epilepsy has been funding SUDEP research for over 20 years, from early-career investigator grants to large-scale multidisciplinary studies involving hundreds of families.
This video was made possible through the generosity of the Dylan Dreamed Foundation, in memory of Dylan Cheatwood (1991-2017)
