we've been researching this for a while - kudos for getting this history out to the broader public:
In the Early 1970s, Republicans Helped Build an All-Black Town Called 'Soul City' African Americans in North Carolina coalesced around constructing a new community where the mission was black empowerment. And they were able to pull it off with financing from President Richard Nixon.
