#1. Static Stretching (AKA Reach and Hold) should only be performed after you warm up and after exercise. Otherwise, you risk straining muscle attachments and/or decreasing performance.
#2. Dynamic Stretching improves the circulation of blood around your body - more blood and oxygen are able to reach the muscles you want to use resulting in improved performance from the outset.
#3. If you feel pain, you’ve gone too far! It is possible to overstretch or injure yourself by using the wrong techniques or pushing muscles past their flexibility limits.
#4. Stretching should be a part of your daily routine. Between all the sitting, driving, and repetitive motions we subject ourselves to, it is very important to reset with a good muscle lengthening routine.
