Dental Office Fined For Disclosing PHI Information on YELP
Responding to patient reviews on-line is a helpful yet perilous task. While Google encourages business owners to respond to reviews, be careful how you respond and what you and your staff post in your on-line responses.
I suggest you to schedule periodic HIPAA meetings and refresher courses. For new employees, ensure that they are trained within a reasonable amount of time after they are hired.
Review your dental office manual to ensure that it contains a social media policy that is in HIPAA compliance.
Beware, dental practices do get fined for HIPAA violations. Here is an article about one practice that was fined $10,000 for HIPAA violations made while responding to dental patients on YELP.

Four Dental Marketing Ideas for October

Well, all marketing takes planning and preparation and the time to start is now. October offers many opportunities to move your practice forward. Here are just a few: October is dental hygiene month, you should launch your end of the year dental insurance utilization announcements, its time to plan for your candy trade-in event and consider participation in breast cancer awareness month.

Grow Your Practice With Back To School Offers
July and August is a great time to grow your practice with a dental marketing campaign promoting back to school dental exams for school-age children. We recommend using a combination of social media and print ads for your Back To School campaigns. All of these are economical and can be implemented quickly.
1. Maximize your Internet marketing outlets. Use blog posts, Facebook boosts, Google ads and Twitter feeds to promote your campaign.
2. Email marketing. Design and send an e-blast to your patient base.
3. Post Printed Ads. Create professionally designed and printed window signs, office posters, and TV advertising.
4. Grass Roots Advertising. Create professionally designed and printed rack cards or flyers and distribute them to area daycare centers and businesses.
