CCPA Trombone Studio
The Trombone studio of Chicago College of the Performing Arts @ Roosevelt University
These thoughts are in response to a conversation with a current CCPA student. It's really crucial for you to record yourself everyday, even if it's only small fragments of exercises and music. It can be intimidating and frustrating at first, but then progress is made and out of that confidence is built. I urge students to record everyday. This is the time in your life when it is most crucial to do this. Conventional wisdom dictates that one should record daily one or two months before auditions or recitals, but really, as a student, it is essential to do it constantly. If you do not do this you have no idea what is really coming out of your bell! Record yourself!
Me: That's it! What are we doing differently???
Student: uh...I don't know it's like I'm making a connection between the air and the sound...
Me:😂
Student: I'm using my air
Me: 👏👏👏👏
Matt Flanagan
Me: practice this slowly.
Student: yah I've been doing that and working on being more relaxed and I notice it's better when I play it faster.
Me: 🤣 ....I'm putting that on the internet
