Thrilled to see my artwork featured as the frontispiece in a new Brill publication on Emmanuel Levinas by Bettina Bergo.

Levinas (1906–1995) was a Lithuanian‑French Jewish philosopher who transformed how we think about ethics. He taught that responsibility begins in the face‑to‑face encounter — when we truly see another person and feel the call to respond with care.

I’m honored that my work accompanies this exploration of empathy, presence, and the space between self and other.

I try to start my day in the studio with a brief dialogue with an Old Master by letting my hand create a paraphrase of a museum piece.
My go-to book for source material is Gods and Heroes in Art.

We took a great Sunday trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum to see The Brilliance of the Spanish World. Some faves: El Greco, Velázquez, Luis de Morales. Some average stuff too from the Hispanic Museum & Library in NYC.
