I couldn’t be more proud of this mural piece I made in my community. I was chosen as one of the muralists for the Orange Street Fair and Maker’s Muse festival on March 21st. I am now one of the mural artists that grace the big Rental Guys building between 6th and 7th streets. (across from Maker Radio)

I wanted to paint in my most recent style of bright colored, whimsical shapes embodying a large angular face with a headdress of recurring symbols from my art: marbles, staircases, faces, trees and bright blended shapes. My paintings represent my dreams and patterns of ideas in flux; a doodle brought to life.

It took roughly 20 hours, 4 gallons of paint, kid-chalk taped to a pole to sketch so high (20 feet tall, 15ft wide) the help of lights and scaffolding from and one dedicated person by my side helping me with ladders, painting, measuring and mostly encouragement, my partner, Marcellene (pictured in 3rd and 9th photos) Thank you so much.

I have always wanted to paint murals. Fascinated by artists who can make such detailed beautiful art on the largest canvas: a building. You may not know that I got to design the colorful mural inside the Boys and Girls Club of a big beautiful word tree with people silhouettes alongside my co-workers and sponsored by our company Fifth Sun many years ago. And, I am currently painting some blooming poppies on the leasing trailer of Merriam Park. I hope to do many more now that I have this wonderful experience of navigating giant art painting.

I love finding murals, going to cities decorated with them and now being a part of that in my own city. So if you get a chance, drive down Orange street downtown and have a look!

Thank you to Maker Radio, Chico Fab Lab, Creative Reuse, and Your Local Marketplace for this opportunity.

Friday at the 8-Bit August reception at 1078 Gallery with my Super Mario in bright cubist surrealist style. The reception was packed! So many great 8-bit inspired pieces, retro gaming on display to interact with and thanks to Casey Fay for putting it on! Show is up until September 14! Check it out.
Things to find in my painting: ? Block, castle, pipe, mario, mushroom land, blooper, cheepcheep, coins, and i wanted to add so much more but it was feeling chaotic. Ha!

My Story

My name is Lori Escobar and I am a digital and fine artist. The name Loriesque Studio encompasses all of my different styles and showcases them pretty much straight from my actual studio, which always has multiple ongoing projects and references my style in everything I do. Currently, I am working on stop-motion animation in my personal artistic pursuits. But, I am also available for freelance work in logo, design, illustration, mural, sign painting, traditional commissioned painting, digital art, or anything you need a creative mind to solve.
I began refining my skills at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore during 2000-2004 and finished with a BFA in illustration and a concentration in ceramics. While there, I found a love of sumi-e ink wash on paper, and Photoshop. I’ve painted murals, put paintings in galleries and have to be creative every day. I've tried my hand at sign painting and stone carving recently. And for ten+ years I've worked as an illustrator at Fifth Sun in Chico, CA creating awesome t-shirt designs and apparel.
